Congratulations to the following middle school runners who competed at Dan River in a 2 mile race. The girls were led by Elly Nash with a time of 12:34 and she was the first overall girl in the race. She was followed by Olivia Tucker: 15:46, Elizabeth Hunter: 16:55, Caroline Swing: 17:30, Raegan Wells: 17:32, Laila Wells: 19:05, Kylie Lique: 19:50, Faith Stough: 20:24, and Khloe Hodge: 22:38.
The boys were led by Lucas Hunter who finished the 2 mile course in a time of 12:22 and placed 1st overall in the boys race. He was followed by Silas Hamilton: 12:36, Ryder Hamilton: 12:56, Berkley Goin: 13:49, Wiley Hamilton: 14:38, William Owen: 15:06, Sam Detwiler: 15:17, Connor McDonough: 16:42, and Elijah Zug: 18:55.
The team will compete again on their home course on September 13th at the Surrender Grounds.
The Middle School Football team will play at Rustburg this evening at 5:30. The cost to get into the game will be $8.00. This covers the Middle School game and the JV game afterwards.
Middle School Volleyball defeated Rustburg 2 games to 1 last night. The Raiders improve to 4-0 on the season. Great job, and keep improving every day ladies!
Attention students who have a passion for ART! Mrs. Layne will be accepting applications for the Raider Expand Art Club beginning this week! This is a fun, after-school program that allows you to explore your creative side. Applications can be picked up in the Art Room, 403, and are due by September 25th. See Mrs. Layne if you have questions and to pick up your application.

If you are planning to attend the ACHS football game this week please be aware of the following: it is the expectation of the ACHS administration that all children grades 8 and below will be accompanied by an adult at all times during the football game. This includes while they are watching the game and walking to and from the concessions and restroom. Students should conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Students that are not with an adult may lose the privilege of attending future games throughout the year.

AMS boys and girls Soccer hosted Rustburg yesterday afternoon in their final home game of the season.
The girls attacked often and won 7-1.
The boys had a very good game, but came up short 4-2.
The AMS Co-Ed Soccer Team will travel to Nelson on Wednesday for their final game of the year.
The AMS boys and girls Soccer team hosted Linkhorne yesterday. The girls played to a 0-0 tie while the boys lost 3-0. Both teams played hard.
AMS Soccer will play their last home game on Monday, as both teams will host Rustburg.
ACHS Cheer Tryouts for current 7th and 8th graders (JV) will be held in the ACHS Gym May 17th and 18th from 5:30 PM til 8:00 PM. For those participating in Spring Sports, we will hold an additional try out on May 20th at 3:00 PM (Please contact coaches to get tryout material prior to, you will also need to confirm with a coach that you will be attending this day). Tryout Requirements ... valid up to date physical, two teacher recommendations, two to three paragraphs of why you are interested in Cheer, in addition, each girl will be required to make up and perform their own eight count of a dance.
The deadline to return summer school invitation letters is May 12, 2023. No students will be admitted after this date.
A friendly reminder - students, when you return to school from absent, please make sure that you give your homeroom teacher your note from your parent or medical doctor for your absence. When you arrive at school, take a moment to check your locker and belongings, and if you have any parent notes or medical notes, please give it to your homeroom teacher so that it can go to the Attendance Secretary (Mrs. Garrett).

The Marching Raiders are having try-outs for all students interested in joining the team next Fall. This includes Drumline, Color Guard and Wind Instruments. It will be May 1st through 5th from 3:30 to 5:30.
