FFA members who wish to participate in summer overnight activities like FFA Camp and State Convention need to see Mrs. Hodges for an application. Applications need to be returned as soon as possible with teacher recommendations. Deposits are due on April 30th to allow for registration. FFA members who have participated in events outside of class qualify for the FFA Discovery Degree. Applications are posted in Google Classroom and due May 1st. FFA members who are attending the end of year picnic need to sign up in Google Classroom for a side dish to bring by May 1st and to RSVP with the number of family members attending.

Last night, your AMS Baseball Raiders hosted the City Schools team from Lynchburg. After getting off to a slow start and falling behind 4-0 after the first 2 innings, your Raiders battled back, took the lead and held on for the win. On the mound, Austin Ferguson pitched 2 innings, giving up 3 earned runs and striking out a batter. Mason Chavis pitched 4 innings of relief, giving up 2 earned runs while striking out 4 batters. Jackson Gobble contributed to the comeback effort with a key RBI groundout to tie the game at 5. A 2 Run RBI double by Brooks Mann and an RBI Single by Mason Chavis in the bottom of the 5th proved to be the difference in the win. Great job team. The Raiders now have a 3-4 record on the season. On Monday, your AMS Raiders will travel to Forest to take on the Forest MS Cavaliers in the 1st of 3 games next week. Let's go Raiders.

Congratulations to the boys and girls track team Friday evening for placing 2nd overall in the Appomattox track Invitational. Isaiah placed 1st in the 100 meters 200 meters and 400 meters and was the MVP of the meet. Amari placed 3rd in 200 meters 1st in the 100 hurdles and 3rd in long jump Caleb mays placed 2nd in the 400 meters Koby placed 3rd in the 400 meters Kylen placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles Camden placed 2nd in 300 hurdles. Orlando placed 3rd in the 300 hurdles Both relay teams placed 2nd in the 4x4 relay and 4by8 relay Kady placing 3rd in the 400 meters Olivia placing 3rd in the 3200 meters Avery placing 2nd in 300 hurdles Girls 4by8 relay placed 1st And 4by4 placing 2nd Laila placed 1st in the high jump Alexia placed 2nd in high jump and 2nd in long jump Madelyn placed 3rd in the high jump Makenna placing 3rd in shot put and 3rd in discus Lyric placed 1st in shot put.

Last night, your Appomattox Raiders Middle School baseball team traveled to Lynchburg to take on a good LCA Bulldogs squad. The Raiders battled, but the Bulldogs prevailed with the 5-2 win. On the mound, Donovan Wilkerson pitched 4 and 1/3 innings. He gave up 4 earned runs while striking out 2 batters. Brooks Mann came in relief for 2/3 of an inning and struck out a batter. Gage McCormick had an RBI single and Jackson Gobble earned a bases loaded RBI hit by pitch. On Wednesday night, your AMS Raiders will host the LCA Bulldogs in what should be a good rematch. Nina Scott pitched 4 strong innings to lead the AMS Lady Raiders Softball team to a win in a slaughter rule game. Brylan Harvey and Lexi Smith had several hits to contribute to the win. The next game is against LCA at home.
