High School:

At the Fork Union Invitational on Sept. 14 ACHS junior Christian Goodman, sophomore David Owen and senior Madison Martin all bested their 2023 race times.

Junior Clay Hamilton led the men’s team Saturday finishing the hilly 5K in 18:28 for 62nd just seconds in front of junior Christian Goodman. Goodman bettered his 2023 time by more than a minute coming in at 18:41 in 70th place. Freshman Lucas Hunter cranked out a 19:26 for 97th place followed by sophomore David Owen. Owen bettered his 2023 time by more than 2 minutes, finishing in 23:38, his fastest time of the season. Clover Hill’s Josh Taylor won the race with 15:38.

Freshman Elly Nash set the pace for the ACHS women's team coming in 4th in a time of 19:14. Senior Madison Martin, came in 29th, besting her 2023 finish by almost a minute with 21:24. Freshman Shylynne Randolph ran a 27:05 for 80th place. Elaina Pierce of Albemarle won the women’s race in 17:52 crushing the previous course record.

Both teams run again Sept. 18 at their home course.

Middle School:

At the Fork Union Invitational on Sept. 14 the middle school boys cross country team placed 6th and the middle school girls cross country team took 7th place in the 2.5K. The boys’ team was led by Ryder Hamilton finishing in a time of 9:24 (10th), Silas Hamilton in 9:51 (14th) and Levi Reynolds in 10:48 (45th). The team was completed by Sam Detwiler in 11:38 (78th), Caleb Richardson in 12:21 (100th), John Hampton in 12:32 (103rd), Luke Dalton 13:03 (114th) and Beckham Glover in 14:20 (125th).  The girl’s crew was led by Raegan Wells, finishing in 12:01 for 31st, Kady Nash in 12:07 for 33rd and Olivia Tucker in 12:17 for 38th. Raiders Alexia Cutlip came in 44th in 12:27, followed by Elizabeth Hunter in 12:59 (60th), Khloe Hodge in 16:22 (102nd), Dixie Millner in 16:42 (103rd) and Maggie Hodges-Tilley in 20:03 (111st).

Both teams run again Sept. 18 at their home course.
