Adult Education
The Appomattox County Adult Learning Center was established in 1989 to meet some of the specific academic needs of adults in our county. About 100 students enroll each year for a variety of reasons; therefore, we offer a wide variety of programs including:
GED (General Educational Development) Examination Preparation
ABE (Adult Basic Education) in reading, math, and writing skills
Individual help for beginning readers
There is no charge to attend, and classes are small enough to insure individual attention.
Students at the Adult Learning Center use their newly developed skills in many ways. After earning their GED, some students go on to further their education at community college or business school, while others pursue new career opportunities or promotions at their existing jobs. Hopefully, all of our students are able to use their academic abilities to enrich their daily lives.
